Kuari Pass Trek Distance

  

The Kuari Pass trek is a popular and scenic trek in Uttarakhand, offering mesmerizing views of some of the highest Himalayan peaks. The total distance covered in this trek varies depending on the starting point,but with Mapping the Himalayas we cover the orginal trail also called the Lord Curzon trail,the trek spans around 55 kilometers, making it a moderate to difficult trek in terms of both distance and fitness. The trek is more long than hard so even beginners with good fitness can attempt this trek.

The trek typically starts from the village Ghat. From Ghat, trekkers are driven to the small village of selu bagar, which is the starting point of the actual trek. From here the walk starts and takes one to village Jhinji, roughly 16 kms walk.

Jhinjhi to Pana village next day is another 8 kms walk.The path is mostly easy, taking you through a lovely Rhododendron forest until you reach the village of Pana. 

Then from  Pana to Dakhwani is a 14 kms walk. The trail is easy to follow beyond the campsite. The path continues gently through the forest and opens up to a meadow called Sartoli. From Sartoli, it takes about half an hour to reach the campsite at Dhakwani. 

From Dakhwani one climbs to Kuari Pass (3800 mts), a 9 kms walk. On this day, it’s best to start early to witness a breathtaking view at the pass. The trail from Dakhwani keeps going uphill through the forest until we leave the tree-covered area. At this point, the path moves to the left side of the valley, just below the pass. It then zigzags its way up to the pass.

The pass provides an absolutely amazing view of the majestic Greater Himalayas. After reaching the pass the trail goes slightly up to a small peak (4265) where one can get an excellent view of the Dronagiri peak.

Following this, the trail goes downhill to a point where it splits into two paths, one leading to Tapovan and the other to Tali. Continue on the trail to Tali, which leads to a ridge with a temple and prayer flags. From here, you’ll be able to see the impressive Nanda Devi peak. The trail finally leads to the campsite at Tali.

From Tali walk to the village of Auli is around 8 kms, wehere the trek ends.

Chopta Deoriatal Trek

Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila trek , starts from chopta as the base point, the trek usually starts early morning to Tungnath temple, the highest SHiva temple in the world, the climb is about 3.5 kms. Its a well paved path for the climbers through meadows and forest cover.

From Tungnath, one ascends to the Chandrashila summit at 4000 meters, the climb is a bit steep of about 1.5 kms. So the total trek from Chopta is about 4.5 kms and the return to base is back on the same trail.
