Rishikesh Rafting Season 2025-26: Dates, Safety & Complete Guide

Rishikesh, India's Adventure Capital, has started its most anticipated season – River Rafting on Ganga! On 27th September 2025, rafting reopened after a long monsoon break, and on the first day itself, over 550 tourists enjoyed this adventure with proper safety precautions.

Rafting this year will be operational up to June 2026, providing global adventure enthusiasts with an opportunity to navigate the powerful Ganga on various stretches.

Why Was Rafting Closed?

Rafting in Rishikesh closes every year during monsoon time due to dangerous and unpredictable high levels of the Ganga. In 2025, the Rafting Management Committee halted operations from 24th June as a safety measure.

Last year, rafting opened by 24th September, but because of more rain than normal this year, the opening was postponed to 27th September 2025.

Rafting Stretches in Rishikesh

Visitors have various rafting stretches to choose from based on their time, experience, and level of thrill:

  1. Brahmapuri to Rishikesh (9 km) – Short & beginner.
  2. Shivpuri to Rishikesh (16 km) – Most popular stretch.
  3. Marine Drive to Rishikesh (24 km) – Adrenaline pumping rapids & eye-catching scenery.
  4. Kaudiyala to Rishikesh (35 km) – For the adventurers who want it all.
  5. Ganga Rafting Expedition (3 Night 4 Days) – Longer route, exciting rapids for the adventure enthusiasts.

All stretches are led by certified river guides with appropriate safety equipment, making for a safe but thrilling ride.

Safety Precautions for Visitors

  • All rafters wear helmets, life jackets, and paddles.
  • Trained guides are in attendance in each raft.
  • Briefing before the trip makes sure that tourists know how to paddle and know the commands for safety.
  • Children under 12 and those with severe health issues are typically not permitted.

Best Time for Rishikesh Rafting 2025-26

  • October – December: Blue skies & cool weather.
  • January – February: Cold water but less crowds.
  • March – June: Peak season for rafting with exciting rapids before monsoon re-sets in.
