KEDARTAL TREK AND WHY IS KEDARTAL LAKE AZURE IN COLOR

The azure color of Kedartal, also known as Shiva's Lake, is attributed to its glacial origins. Glacial lakes like Kedartal often exhibit a striking blue color due to the presence of finely ground rock particles, known as glacial flour or rock flour. These particles are created as glaciers grind against the underlying bedrock, producing a fine sediment that is then suspended in the lake water. This suspended sediment scatters sunlight in such a way that longer (red and yellow) wavelengths are absorbed, while shorter (blue) wavelengths are reflected, giving the lake its distinctive azure hue.

Camping beside its azure waters, gazing at the starlit sky, is a magical experience. Kedartal trek offers a chance to escape the chaos of city life and immerse oneself in the serenity of nature's grandeur.
